The five biggest net marketing mistakes

    By Andres Munoz

When you begin doing business on the net there are many pitfalls you may encounter that will kill any chances of success. There are some aspects to online marketing you simply can't afford to break. There are 5 basic rules that you must pay attention to when you begin marketing your online business.

    1) Falling for unrealistic pipedreams.
Unfortunately many business owners base their expectation for success on something they have read or heard about doing business online. There are numerous programs out there that
will claim to give you the secrets that will guarantee you to make a million dollars by the end of the year and you only need to work 2 hours a day. It doesn't work that way. Although it may be true that a particular program may free up a lot of administrative time you will need to devote all your time to marketing your product. That means many hours in front of your computer everyday if you wish to become successful.

If you believe that you can become a successful on the net after a month online that forget it. Save yourself the money and the disappointment. It's vital that you keep up-to-date
with online marketing and prepare yourself to make changes in your marketing plan. You must understand that all those marketing success stories are from individuals who started
in the mid-1990's and countless hours in front of the computer.

    2) Passive Marketing
If you don't promote your site, you'll fail. It's that simple. To make it on the net you must market your business every day. Keep in mind that the Internet is a huge community with
millions of users and websites, so for your business to be noticed you must promote your website constantly. It involves much more than just Submiting your website to the major
search engines. It may be months until you get listed, in the meantime you need to incorporate other promotion tools in your arsenal.

Take advantage of free publicity; submit articles and press releases and let the world know about your site and products.

    Submit your articles to
    www.web-source.net
    www.marketing-seek.com
    www.ezinearticles.com
    www.ezinesolutions.com

    Submit your press release to
    http://www.comitatusgroup.com/pr/
    www.prweb.com

The cheapest marketing tactic is creating and distributing an ezine where you can target your customers with your ads and articles. Likewise if you need articles www.web-source.net
    has all you need.

Do some research and find other websites similar to your own And inquire if they would like to exchange links. Reciprocal linking is an excellent from of getting extra targeted traffic
and the more websites link to yours the better chance you get in top positioning in the search engines.

    3) Spamming
Spamming is sending unsolicited e-mail to people about your product. The fact is that people hate spam and if you really want to destroy your credibility then try spamming. Just don't
    do it.

    4) A "busy" web site.
A "busy" website is one with too many graphics that takes too long to load. A web page should load under 10 seconds preferably 8 seconds. If your homepage is just one big graphic that serves no real purpose that you may consider revising it. The first thing your visitor should see is a navigation bar of some sort along with content that tells the visitor what you provide and where to go and find it. The most important thing to consider in the design of your site is making sure the navigation is easily understood and simple to follow. The biggest killer of
    any website is confusing navigation.

    5) Not responding to customer E-mails.

Always remember that Internet users are very impatient and want the information right away. "Wait" is a four letter word.

Be professional and make use of autoresponders. Autoresponders will save up much administrative time leaving you to perform more important tasks. If you offer an e-mail address on your site for "General Information" and you find yourself unable to return all the e-mails with 48 hours, then set up an autoresponder for that e-mail address informing the reader that they will receive a personal response with 3 to 5 days. In that e-mail you can offer them a free item or remind them of any special sales you are having. This e-mail will look very professional. The best autoresponders are from www.getresponse.com Use autoresponders for classified ads you post so when they send e-mail to you for more information they will get your sales letter.

Marketing on the net isn't that hard so long as you follow some Basic rules. Remember these rules when you begin your business and keep it simple.
