    Why Feature Webisodes?

What is a webisode, and why should you put them on your website? It's a special kind of content, and it can draw in regular visitors like TV shows used to attract regular viewers. But as you'd expect for an Internet-based phenomenon, there are some important differences between a webisode and its TV counterpart. Keep reading for all the details.

Somewhere in a reality we don’t quite understand, anything is possible. Individuals can find romance, holiday gifts, ideas and inspiration, knowledge and information…and above all, entertainment. This magical land is in fact an entire universe…virtually. It’s the Internet, and it’s absolutely filled with all kinds of content that compels and contributes to the daily atmosphere of our lives.

Even when we don’t use it, we see it in advertising, hear it in conversations and find it on our cell phones. If you’ve got a site, you’ve probably got every kind of content from blog posts to user reviews to great graphic images - because the Internet almost demands that you offer everything so your audience. And you do. So…why feature Webisodes?

    What’s a Webisode?

Thanks to video-sharing sites like YouTube.com (pictured), almost everyone who is familiar with the Internet is also familiar with streaming video. With the click of a button, anyone can make a video play that offers real-time enjoyment and entertainment set to sound. Playable video Internet users can watch in real time is just one more perk of the modern marvel that is the World Wide Web. The best part of all is that many, many streaming videos can be shared among sites - and that includes yours.

The popularity of interactive, real-time entertainment that users can control (namely, streaming video) has given rise to a phenomenon which only exists online: the Webisode. Some are becoming stars on the strength of this medium alone, which wouldn’t even be possible without the Internet.

Webisodes are, in their way, the television of the Internet. Through the power of streaming video, serial programs can be displayed by sites to provide users with continuing stories and constant entertainment. What’s a Webisode? It’s an episode of a series which exists online, and it’s all thanks to the online feature known as streaming video.
