Polls, Contests and Site Giveaways: Add More, Without Doing More Work - Adding Contests

Adding contests to your site is another way to add more incentive for your visitors. All the contests you sponsor should directly relate in some way to the content or existing themes you have already in place on your site. If your site features a blog, for instance, you may consider running a contest for the best blog entry. Users submit their posts as contest entries, and the winner will win a featured position on your page. This is a good way to generate excitement as well as free content for your pages. Not only will you display the winning entry, but you can also choose to show off runner-up entries and honorable mentions as well.

Creating contests for your visitors will give them yet another way to get involved with your site, and it will even reward them for doing so. Content-creating contests are a very convenient way for you to add more to your site without adding a whole lot of work for yourself.

Other contest ideas you might consider include streaming video submissions (you pick the theme, the traffic does the rest), a site design contest (if you're ready to change the look of your pages), even a contest to create the best poll idea (why not combine as many extra site additions as you can?). When you award a featured position on the site, you don't really have to give anything away to the contest winner. You're the one who wins, because you get fresh content to display.

Learn how to use contests to your advantage, and you'll learn how to add a whole lot more to your pages. Both parties will benefit, but your site will win the biggest prize of all: free content and more traffic.
