Be the King of Your Domain

So there you are. You’ve got a topic that you really love. You’ve done your research. You’re ready to start your new website. As good as it is, you’re certain to get traffic and
tons of sales. All you need to do now is register a domain
name and start designing the site to end all sites!

The only problem is, what do you call your site?

It seems like such a throwaway decision. But stop for just a
second to think about how important that simple, little name
    will be.

Some handy things to keep in mind…

    1) You want traffic. That means, you’ve got to get ranked
high in the search engines. Determine what keywords, or
keyword phrases people will type into their browser to find
your site. Use those terms often. You may even want to use
the best phrase in your domain name.

    2) KISS. Keep It Simple Silly. Make sure your name is one
that people can remember. Most people will only ask for the
name once, then they move on.

    3) Keep the spelling easy. I’ve spent my entire life trying
to figure out how to spell 'receive' and I’m still no good at
it. Don’t make people have to look up a word just to get to
your site. www.we-make-watches.com is miles better than
    www.impeccable-chronographs.com

    4) Use dot COM. The .com domain extension is so common that
it’s almost crazy to use anything else. If a searcher
doesn’t know, he/she will assume .com. Don’t send them to
    your competitor.
