What`s So Special About Your Site?

Do you have a unique idea for a web site? So do thousands of others...and they may be just like yours. You need to find a way to stand out from the pack. Whether it's your content, your site's design, or something else, you need to give your visitors a reason to stop by your site rather than someone else's. Not sure where to start? Keep reading.

You wrack your brain for days, making notes and surfing sites, until you find what you’re sure is a truly unique theme, a totally fresh topic. You read tutorials, download templates and get to work on creating the greatest site the Internet has ever known. Finally your pages go live and you’re certain that you’ve cornered a market that’s right on the verge of exploding.

Then, inevitably, you discover that there are one thousand, four hundred and ninety-seven other sites out there with something in common…they are all very much like yours. What’s so special about your site?

There’s a lot of competition out there. The Internet is a unique medium quite unlike any other. Anyone, from anywhere in the world, no matter who they are, can create a Web site or a blog. They can create this space on the Internet, if they like, absolutely for free. This means that anyone with the wherewithal and desire can fashion an entire site on any subject matter they wish.

This means that you’ve got to do something extra special if you want your own site to stand out from the crowd. Be different to be distinct. Learn a few tips that will help you create a unique, compelling Internet site that won’t look like all the others.

    The Content

If you’re like most Webmasters, you know you have absolutely great content to offer the public at large. But let’s face it: all content writers pull their information from the same movies, television shows, world news and rumors. Even personal blogs and recollections are very similar in many ways.

Your content may be very good. This doesn’t necessarily make it noticeably different from all those other content-driven sites on the Internet. If you have videos, it’s likely that YouTube has them, too. If you’ve got information on a TV show, someone else has the same. If you’ve reviewed a new movie in the theaters, so have other writers. The subject matter and even the source of your content may be the same as a hundred other Web sites out there. After all, everyone provides content.

Now, find a way to make yours stand apart from the crowd anyway. Remember to always keep this question in your mind: what’s so special about your site? If you don’t have an answer, it’s time to get to work. Start with the content.

Because SEO is such a prime concern and since search engines control the ebb and flow of most all Internet traffic, content is king on every single Web site. To set yours apart, even if you relate all the same information as many other sites out there, you have to establish your own unique “voice” or viewpoint.

Set a tone for your site by providing interesting, illuminating thoughts on the content you relate. Everyone may pull their content from the same circumstances and events, but no one will react to those events in the exact same way as you. Use it, cater to it, and let your own voice shine through your content.

That’s something none of those other sites can possibly do. Use your voice. Only you can do that.
