    Spooky Text
This Tutorial will show you how to create some dazzling effects to text, which also can be applied to objects.

1.) Open Photoshop 7.0 and create a new file. Go to File > New. Make it 350 X 150 pixels on a white background at 72 dpi then hit OK.

2.) Press the letter D on the keyboard to set the foreground color to black.

3.) Select the Text tool and type something large.

4.) Now, in the Layers palette, Ctrl + click on the text layer to create a selection around the text. Turn off the "eye" icon to the layer, and click on the background layer.

5.) Next, go to Edit > Stroke. Enter 8 pixels for width and choose Outside for location then hit OK.

Now, de-select selection by pressing Ctrl + D.

6.) Go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur. Enter setting below and hit OK.

7.) Next, go to Filter > Render > Difference Clouds. (This will create the electric stroke around the text.) Now, invert the clouds by pressing Ctrl + I to create a stronger effect.

8.) Now to colorize this baby. Press Ctrl + U. (This action will activate the Hue/Saturation dialog box). Check the Colorize box, then move the Hue slider to 245.

9.) To finish text, in the Layers palette, click on the type layer to make it visible. Go to Layer > Layer Style > Blending Options... and when the palette appears, change it's "Blend Mode" to Overlay.

*Compare text to top image. Effects will vary depending on different text styles. Try several styles until you find one that suits your fancy.

Remember I said this effect can be applied to objects also?

    Behold the image below:

Here, I created a file for the building (applied with the Text tool found under "Webdings") at 200 pixels and applied the same effects above. Then I created a second file and created the text. The text was then extracted and pasted into the first file.
