Will Google Social Search Affect Your Traffic? - How Will it Affect Your Traffic?

Anything which has an effect on search results is of interest to you as a Webmaster. Google is the most popular Web site in the United States, and it commands a huge amount of online traffic. Google's powerful pages direct and drive a huge portion of the Internet population, and you don't want it to be driving visitors away from your content.

With Social Search, users will have the option of viewing new content pages created by those they already know. So...where do you (and where does your content) fit into all this?

Google Social Search still presents links to relevant content, but it will present some of that content in a different way. If you've got a Web site and/or a lot of content to promote, you should be taking advantage of social networking sites anyway.

Google Social Search just gives you another reason to make sure you've got feeds installed on your social networking profiles, and links from your site to your networking pages. Link everything together!

Getting more social and linking your pages together in this way will increase your chances of showing up in all Google searches -- including this new, still-experimental social search option. Gather contacts to feature more heavily in these search results, and you could see more traffic as a result.
