Let’s face it. Without search engines to point out relevant Web sites, we’d probably never find anything online no matter how hard we try. Many people have search engines as their home pages, the first thing they see when they log on. The blank box beckons, begging you to enter just a few words. You do, and voila! Now you have plenty of relevant sites to choose from to find the topics you want. Almost anyone could use a search engine, making these Web sites very compelling and important indeed.
With this kind of extraordinary power, it’s no wonder search engines remain tops in the online world. But don’t let the search engines fool you; there’s a whole lot more to those sites than search. Why are search engines so popular? There are many reasons beyond the obvious (though that also works in their favor).
