Choosing the right keywords and optimizing your pages is about much more than pleasing the search engines. Remember that it isnít the search engines who pick the words; itís the Internet traffic. What theyíre looking for is whatís popular, and what theyíre looking for should be on your site. Are you choosing the right keywords for your online content?
Your site already has a theme, a message, a central topic or certain bits of information that are regularly featured. Your site already has a rich source of keywords, but thereís still more you can do to achieve great SEO. If you arenít optimizing by simplifying, you might be missing out on a lot of traffic.
Suppose your site centers around a very popular topic online: Web design. You likely focus on keyword phrases such as designing Web pages, Web page templates, Web site design, etc. You likely take great pains to write clear, concise and interesting content thatís chock-full of potential search terms. You probably spell check, edit and carefully look over everything you put on your Web pages.
Youíre probably not choosing all the right keywords you should to fully optimize pages for your site. Remember that you arenít necessarily targeting the search engines; youíre going after the people who use them. Itís time to simplify.
