Make it Searchable - Is It Worth It?
Adding a search bar to a Web site sounds like it could create more than a little hassle, and it certainly could take a great deal of time to implement. Is it worth it to take all the time and trouble to make your site searchable?
It’s true that adding a search bar may not boost page rankings or improve your standing with popular search engines like Google, but it will offer a whole new dimension for your traffic. The search bar offers ease and convenience, and what else is the Internet about, if not ease and convenience? Making it searchable makes your site much more professional, easier to use and pleasant for your visitors. Nothing but good can come of this, even if implementing the search does take a little bit of work.
Get Outside Help
Who needs all the hassle? You’ve decided not to create a search bar for your own pages, because it’s much easier not to sign up, write a code or take advantage of online Web tools. Even if you decide not to go through the steps to place a search bar for your own pages, that doesn’t mean you’re wholly out of the online search loop.
So you don’t want to make your own pages searchable, but that doesn’t mean you can’t take advantage of someone else’s search on another site. Many Web pages will offer you a free code you can cut and paste right onto your pages -- a search bar which will allow your traffic to search a different site for what they want. This will actually serve to drive traffic from your own pages, but it will completely save you the hassle and trouble of creating a search for your site. You cut, you paste, you click, and you’re done.
Make It Searchable
By offering ease to your visitors and allowing them to find exactly what they want, you help them save time and aggravation. You may have to spend extra time and aggravation yourself to make their online jaunts simpler, but your pages will be much better for all the hard work.
