You are probably thinking to yourself.. aren't marketing and selling the same thing? Those "guru" would have you believe it. Don't confuse marketing with sales. The two are very different animals.
What is the difference between them?
Marketing is everything you do to make your target audience aware of our product/service. It convinces your market that you have what they need and want. It sets up the strategy to give sales the path of least resistance to closing the sale.
In other words, it is all the activities leading to sales.
Sales are very critical to keep your business alive. Cash flow especially coming in is the life blood of your business. Sales create cash flow.
Once marketing convinces you of the need for the product or service...selling convinces you to part with your money to buy it.
