The common refrain from the Internet Gurus is that the only real way to have consistent and long term success (ie making money) on the internet is by building a list and regularly marketing to that list.People are more likely to buy from someone they've
established a "relationship" with rather
than someone who spams (sends unsolicited emails)
continually.
Proven research indicates that it takes multiple visits to
a website or ezine messages to close a sale.
The key points to remember are
Establishing credibility: Assure them that you'll protect
their information (email addresses etc)
You've got the goods (by providing solid information each
time you do a mailing to your list.)
No sending worthless, get rich quick schemes.
That's the quickest way to lose subscribers regardless of
how relevant the offer may be.
Don't try the hardsell approach (Give and it shall be
given unto you) Concentrate on giving your subscribers
solid information about how they'll benefit from your offer
in other words prove your worth,
