A Review of Newsletter Emailing Software - OnMarketer

The OnMarketer software package is a high-price, high-feature program which will allow you to complete just about whatever you want without the addition of other costly features. OnMarketer offers the same contact plan as Constant Contact, with 500 initial contacts and unlimited e-mails. However, OnMarketer is significantly more expensive with a monthly rate of $20. In addition to the higher monthly rate, OnMarketer requires an initial set-up charge of $20.

As with the first two programs, OnMarketer offers over 300 newsletter templates for you to use for free, while custom templates are cheaper at only $250 (see photo for example). The program does add an OnMarketer “brand” to your newsletter, similar to iContact. Rather than paying a monthly fee to remove the brand, you can pay a one-time charge of $20 and never have to worry about the brand again. A very large plus that comes with the high rates is unlimited image hosting with even the basic plan. This allows you to host as many images as you want without worrying about tacked-on fees. E-mail archiving is also included with the software bundle at no additional charge.

The OnMarketer free trial has no time limit, but will only allow you to add up to 20 contacts. Unfortunately, this offer seems more helpful to small newsletters looking for a hand-out than serious mass e-mailers deciding between quality products. Although the initial walk-through tutorial for OnMarketer is very helpful, they do not offer any live assistance with their phone line, which has the slightly inconvenient hours of 7 A.M. until 6 P.M. A 10% discount is offered for prepayment as well as a 20% discount for non-profit organizations.

One unique feature of OnMarketer is that it provides full support for Microsoft Excel 2007. Most newsletter programs require that Excel files be in .csv format, but OnMarketer can successfully read .xls. One down side of the software is that it does not send you a confirmation e-mail once your newsletter campaign has been completed.

Basically, OnMarketer provides a very impressive feature-set but does so with a large cost. Once you have paid the initial $20 set-up fee and—optionally—the $20 fee to remove text ads from your newsletters, you have to pay $20 per month for the basic plan.
