Using the Meta Robots Tag in Blogger - Tag Execution
(Page 4 of 4 )
For the first meta robots tag for crawling and indexing of page and links:
<MainPage><META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="INDEX,FOLLOW"></MainPage><ItemPage><blogger><META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="INDEX,FOLLOW"></blogger></ItemPage><ArchivePage><META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="NOINDEX,NOFOLLOW"></ArchivePage>
For the second meta robots tag it will simply be:
<META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="noodp">
Note that no conditional tags exist, because this will be applied to all indexed pages of the blog which are the front page and the post pages.
In the Blogger Classic Template, copy and paste the following code below right below the <head>
Note: Do not forget to back up the template.
<MainPage><META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="INDEX,FOLLOW"></MainPage><ItemPage><blogger><META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="INDEX,FOLLOW"></blogger></ItemPage><ArchivePage><META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="NOINDEX,NOFOLLOW"></ArchivePage>
<META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="noodp">
Then save the template and check the source code of the front page. The post pages it should show as:
<META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="INDEX,FOLLOW">
<META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="noodp">
And the archived pages will show as:
<META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="NOINDEX,NOFOLLOW">
<META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="noodp">
This will now prevent the archived pages for being crawled and indexed, which can prevent duplicate content issues in Blogger.
