Create a Blogging Site - Creating the Pages
(Page 3 of 4 )
Now that you have a Web site, it’s time to start creating the pages that will make the site a reality on the Web. Choose the backgrounds, font styles and images that will give your pages just the right gloss and glow, and think about the layout so you can design everything accordingly.

Most blogging sites (such as WordPress, pictured) offer a main page that above all else features easy user navigation. From this page, your traffic should be able to find any of the blogs hosted by your site. Provide navigational tool bars and a search option so visitors can find just what they want. You might also want to feature excerpts from popular or recently-updated blogs, or include a rating system which allows traffic to vote their favorite entries onto the main page.
Creating the Blogs
You have built it…now, get the bloggers to come. Once you have a main page and plenty of navigation, you have to give your traffic something to find. It’s a good idea to have an established blog on the site before it opens to the public -- otherwise, you have very little content and traffic with which to tempt the search engines.
Now, it’s time to think about getting bloggers to put their words on your pages. You’ll have to define the terms of this agreement and set the guidelines for your bloggers to follow -- whether or not they have to choose a topic, how much blogging space they will be granted, etc.
You will also want to include a registration process for your bloggers, a sign-in feature so your site remembers them. This way, you can keep track of posts made by each blogger and offer other extras, such as online profiles so readers can keep track of writers they like.
