Build a Better Blog - Build a Better Blog
(Page 3 of 4 )
You’ve got well-written content that’s highly keyword-focused and entertaining. You’ve got new content being added to your blog all the time. You’ve got a lot of high hopes…so why does your blog seem to be sinking? Add all those little extras which will help you build a better blog, and a bigger blog fan base.
Content may be the most important element to any blog, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t room for a few more elements on those pages as well. The most popular and widely-known blogs boast more than content: they offer all the appropriate interaction and eye candy, too.

TMZ.com., pictured above, is one of the most popular entertainment blogs in the U.S. The content this site offers isn’t so different from all the other entertainment sites out there; for TMZ, site success is all in presentation. The first page of the site offers bold, catchy headlines, several different video clips, large pictures and quick navigation. Because it offers all of these elements (and because they’re so plain to see on the site), TMZ stands apart from other entertainment sites even though they may offer very similar stories and news.
Video clips aren’t at all hard to find online. Search video sites such as YouTube.com to find visual content that might correspond with your written words. Since YouTube provides a cut-and-paste link with every video, it’s absolutely acceptable for you to use their videos on your site - in fact, YouTube encourages it. When there seems to be no convenient videos to go with your thoughts, simply look for free (no royalty) images you can add to your articles.
Do not link to pictures on other sites, as you never know when the status of these images will change. If you find a picture online that you’d like to use, download it onto your computer. After this is complete, upload the picture from your computer to the blog itself.
