Blogging with Blogger - Blog Anywhere
Blogger offers some convenient ways to post an entry to your blog, and one of them is via email. Do you remember the comparisons I made earlier regarding posting in Blogger and sending an email? Well, now you can see exactly what I meant with this Mail-to-Blogger feature. In your control panel, go to the Settings tab and select Email. Here you will be asked to create a special Mail-to-Blogger address. Most of the address is already set, you just need to add a secret word. The email format is username.secretword@blogger.com.
You can then choose whether you want it to publish emails automatically or have them saved to your account until the next time you log in. When you send an email to the Mail-to-Blogger address, the subject of the email will be the title of the post and the body of the email will be the body of the post. Also, you can attach an image to your email if you want to have an image in your post. Note: some email programs add text to the bottom of each email. To avoid this, put #end at the end of your post. There is also a box called BlogSend Address on the email page. You should put an email address in there if you want to be notified when your mailed entry is posted.
Another convenient way to post a blog entry is on-the-go via Mobile blogging. If you have a cell phone with a camera, text capabilities, and an Internet connection, then you're ready to start mobile blogging. Check here to see what mobile providers Blogger supports. Then, just follow these steps:
Send a text or photo message to go@blogger.com. This will create a new blog with the message on it. A message will then be sent back to you with the blog's address and a token, so you can claim and access the blog from your account.
You then go to go.blogger.com to make any changes to the blog or to add the post to an existing blog.
Note: emails sent through a webmail gateway, such as yourschool.edu, from your phone do not apply.
Blogger also has some fancy multimedia options, such as audioblogging and and posting video from your computer or YouTube. I'm not going to go into the details here, but you can find more information on these and other topics on the Blogger Help page. Blogger may not be the most intricate blogging site out there, but for the millions of people who just want to express themselves without having to slave over the complexities of computer programming, it offers a more than capable outlet. Thus, I highly recommend it.
