Are E-Zines Still Relevant? - Professional Polish
(Page 4 of 4 )
E-zines, in their role of online magazines, often boast professional writers and a well-designed, very flashy look. This professional polish helps set e-zines apart from much of the content on the Internet, which could make up for the existence of paid subscriptions for those e-zines which still charge.
However, there are many content-based sites out there which have professional and even well-known writers to go with sleek page design. Many, many Web sites offer their content for free in hopes of pulling in large amounts of traffic.
With a great deal of traffic, sites can take advantage of advertising options to earn income. This way, the content remains free and the site still manages to make money. Highly successful and subscriber-rich e-zines can also gain income through advertisers, but it takes a lot of traffic to earn substantial income this way.
Are E-Zines Still Relevant?
If the Internet is chock-full of free content, blogs are providing a rich source of fresh text and subscriptions are obtained for free at the click of a single button, what could e-zines possibly have to offer Internet users?
In a way, all the blogs, article-rich sites and subscription links all started with e-zines. Online magazines aren’t extinct -- in fact, these days they’re probably more widely-read than most print magazines out there. The e-zine is alive and well in blogs, RSS feeds and all content-rich pages. Online magazines simply go by many different names these days. As long as readable, fresh content remains relevant on the Internet, e-zines will always have their niche.
